Peru – a real paradise for any kind of vacation

ROCK CLIMBING

Since the beginning of the seventies, rock climbing has been gaining popularity and it has also been growing as a sport in Peru. Peru offers almost perfect conditions to climbers. The most difficult rock climbing tour is ranking on a 5,12 D severety. There are also some other difficult tours, with severety X and R, in the narrow Rimac Gorge near Lima and in Tinajani near Puno.

Lima - Southern coast - Cajamarca

Lima:
Lots of rock climbing areas are situated in the sorroundings of Lima, especially Vichuya in Lurin valley, South of Lima and Canchacalla, 40 kilometres East of Lima, are renowned among climbing fanatics. For years now, rock climbing courses have been offered near these facilities. Besides the regions mentioned, Infiernillo, around 70 km East of Lima, also offers climbing opportunities.

Southern coast
Close to the Panamericana Sur you will find some demanding rock climbing areas. To most famous ones are Biking (45 km), La Tiza (60 km) and Paracas (250 km).

Cajamarca:
Only around 30 minutes drive from Cajamarca, the village of Cumbemayo also offers good rock climbing facilities. This is a magical place with impressing rock formations. Legend has it that monks became stones there. Climbers will be impressed by the amazing landscape sourrounding it.

Other places suitable for climbing are around Tinajani in Ayaviri near Puno, the rockfaces besides the glacier gorge of Llanganuco near Huaraz and the rock formations of the sanctum of Huayllay in Pasco.

SURF

Peru is known as a surfers´ paradise, due in part to Sofia Mulanovich, Peruvian surfing world champion, and her sporting success. Surf-holidays become more and more popular on Perus beaches, especially the beaches south of Lima and those in the North of the country are very popular destinations for surfers from all over the world.

South of Lima - Northern Peru

South of Lima:
One of Perus most polpular surf regions is located 44 kilometres South of Lima and is called Punta Hermosa, but good waves can be found off the beaches of Senoritas, Caballeros, Pico Alto and La Islas. Arrival from Lima.


Northern Peru:
Beaches North of Trujillo are famous because of their beautiful waves. Most of all, Chicama is known for its waves that reach heights of up to three metres. Also less spectacular waves, like those in Huanchaco attract lots of surfers. Other famous beaches are situated around Cabo Blanco and Mancora.

HORSE RIDING

Not only because of its beautiful countryside and its untouched districts, but also because of the famous Peruvian Paso horse, Peru is the ideal place for horseback riding holidays. Tours are offered in most regions and can last from one hour to two weeks in duration. Both experienced riders as well as beginners will appreciate the immense variety on offer and will find it possible to taylor their own ideal experience.

Coast - Andes

Coast:
The cities of Trujillo and Piura with their long beaches are perfect for tours along the shore, tours for one or more days duration can be arranged.
In the sorrounding areas of Lima, there are manyf Paso breeding regions. About 27 kilometres outside of Lima is situated a village called Mamacona, where every year the famous 'Concurso Nacional' of Peruvian Paso horses takes place. Tours leading through the area can be organized.

Andes
For those, who want to discover the mountains by horse, experienced tour guides are available, offering many wonderful tours on Andean trails. Tours through the Sacred Valley of the Inca, the Colca Canyon, throught the region of Cajamarca or the Cordillera Blanca garantee great fun.
